WAX

Aware of their helplessness before the inevitable flow of time, people have tried to contain it within a clock face. Yet this has never made it possible to return from the past, even for a moment. At best, we can catch only ourselves — trapped in a closed circle, endlessly chasing a lost second. Living inside the cage of time, we exist within the boundaries of an artificial illusion of our own making, never having come to know Simplicity. Pavlo Kovach's project Wax is a journey from contemplation of time towards an awareness of oneself here and now. It is an attempt to mummify time and information in their irreversible movement. It is an opportunity to pause and grasp the disappearing moment — to recognise oneself within it. To listen, to look, and to feel the rhythms that surround us: the rhythm of the sky, the rhythm of the earth, of trees and rivers, the rhythm of inhaling and exhaling, the rhythm of a pulse. A pause.
